Improves Village Economy, IPB University Students Study International Soccer Field Construction

IPB University students conduct a Business Model Canvas (BMC) study of international soccer field construction as a Village-owned Business Institution (BUMDesa) business unit ‘Sakti Lodaya’, Cisayong Village, Tasikmalaya, West Java. This study’s funding was approved for Student Creativity Program (PKM) in Social and Humanities Study (PSH). This study is conducted by students from Agribusiness Department and Business School of IPB University. The team consists of Aulia Dina Wahidah, Gentur Ngudiharjo, and Maria Jacklyn, who are advised by Dr Yusalina M.Si.
Aulia said that the reason why this PKM team is interested to study about soccer field construction is that in general BUMDesa business unit is in the form of food and drink products, handicrafts, or agricultural goods. Unlike the mentioned objects, BUMDesa Sakti Lodaya in Cisayong Village, Tasikmalaya, West Java built international soccer field as their business unit.
The motivation behind the Sakti Lodaya Field construction is to drive village development. The decision to build Sakti Lodaya Field is not only to make an icon for Cisayong Village, but also as a form of a sustainable utilization of village fund, in hope that village fund can be managed well and give social and financial benefits for the locals.
The field that has operated since 2018 has been rented several times by village soccer clubs or national-scale clubs such as Persija and Persib. What’s more, U-14 tournament for clubs in West Java at June 30 2019 also used Cisayong soccer field as one of its arena.
“The impacts of Sakti Lodaya Field construction start to crystallize. This is indicated by the operations of sport goods stores, souvenir stores, and food stalls built by Cisayong Village locals. For inns, Sakti Lodaya BUMDesa Cisayong Village partners with the locals to rent their houses as inns for athletes, so the nuance of the village can be felt even stronger. There are, of course, problems in managing the soccer field, because a business unit needs to apply the correct business strategy,” adds Aulia.
According to the result of the study, this PKM team offers several strategies to the management, which is marketing strategy through online platforms such as influencer marketing with ambassadors as well as promotional video content. Besides that, management should also categorize the pricings for locals and clubs outside Tasikmalaya. The activation of membership card is also a potential strategy to keep the continuity of renting from member clubs.
“We also suggest that Sakti Lodaya BUMDesa can cooperate with Kemenpora, Disparpora, BUMN, Ministry of Tourism or private companies, be it in funding or promotions, so if in the future there is a tournament, they can use this field. With events, local’s income would also increase. For us, this business idea is unique and quite exemplary because the village fund is used for a sustainable business and thus makes the village more independent. We hope that this BUMDesa can keep its consumers. The plan is also to build spectators tribune, so there will be more people and increase the income from the soccer field itself,” said Aulia. (Ard)
