Seven Universities Participated in the Program of IPB Goes to Field 2017

Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof.Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, officially released the participant students of IPB Goes to Field (IGTF) 2017, in Auditorium of Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Campus of IPB Dramaga Bogor, Monday (17/7). Accompanying were Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation of Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan (UIN) Ampel Surabaya, Prof.Dr. H. Ali Mufrodi; Rector of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi Thailand, represented by Assoc.Prof. Wallop Promthong; Chairman of Agriculture of Faculty of Agriculture of Universiti Putera Malaysia, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Norsida Man; and Vice Rector for Cooperation, Research, and Business Development of Universitas Paramadina, Dr. Ayu Dwi Nindyati.

IGTF was the educational activity in the form of the student learning with the community by living, adapting, and working with the community. A number of students and lecturers of IPB were down to the field to overcome the problems in the community. The status of IGTF was non-curricular activity undertaken voluntarily by the interested students.

The Rector of IPB delivered congratulations to join the participants of IGTF 2017, both the students of IPB, the students of Rajamangala University of Technology Tanyaburi Thailand, Universiti Putera Malaysia, Universitas Paramadina, Poltekes Kemenkes Tasikmalaya, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Universitas Sriwijaya, and Universitas Islam Kediri.

“I am very happy to meet and cooperate with the brothers from various fields in carrying out this community service. We design this activity which will give two benefits at once, namely to help the community to solve their problems and to improve the ability of students to work serving the community,” said the Rector.

While, the Rector of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi Thailand represented by Assoc.Prof. Wallop Promthong welcomed the IGTF program. “This kind of IGTF activity must exist in every university to hone awareness, to sharpen togetherness, to build and learn together with the community, and to build nation directly,” he said.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, delivered that this IGTF was very noble and beneficial to build society. Therefore, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya was very grateful to IPB which had also invited in this program of IGTF 2017. He said, this activity was the third times followed by UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya to go directly to do the community services and to improve the soft skills in the community.

The chairman of the committee of IGTF 2017 from Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM) of IPB, Dr. I Wayan Astika IGTF, said that, IGTF was designed as one of the community service programs to support the vision of IPB in the form of the mainstreaming of the agriculture. The idea was initiated starting in 2008 and began to be implemented in 2009, thus now IGTF had been running for nine years.

The participants of IGTF 2017 consisted of 241 students of IPB, 2 students of Universitas Paramadina, 24 students of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, 6 students of Universitas Islam Kediri, 13 students of Politeknik Kesehatan Kementerian Kesehatan Tasikmalaya, 6 students of Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) Palembang, 20 students of University of Technology Thanyaburi Thailand, and 4 students of Universitas Putera Malasyia. 

The location which will be IGTF 2017 activities among others, Program Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SPR) / School of Animal Husbandry  Program in Muara Enim District, Program Ramah Anak / Child Friendly Program in Tasikmalaya District, Pengembangan Desa Wisata / Tourism Village Development in Tegal District, Penggalian Kearifan Lokal / Excavation of Local Wisdom in Tegal District, Tata Kelola Irigasi / Irrigation Governance in Pekalongan District, Pengolahan Pangan Hasil Pertanian / Food Processing of Agricultural Product in Madiun District, Budidaya Padi Organik / Rice Organic Cultivation in Ngawi District, Program SPR / SPR Program in Kediri District, Program SPR / SPR Program in Pasuruan District, Program Kesehatan Hewan / Animal Health Program in Gianyar District, Program SPR / SPR Program in Pinrang District, Program Klinik Tanaman / Plant Clinic Program in North Tapanuli District, and Budidaya Padi / Rice Cultivation in Serdang Bedagai District.

“The implementation in the field is coordinated with the partner or the local government. Each program is guided by a program coordinator who is a permanent lecturer of IPB,” said Dr. Wayan.

Also present in this activity, among others the Head of LPPM of IPB, Dr. Prastowo, the Deputy Head of Community Services of LPPM of IPB, Dr. Hartoyo, the lecturers and the program coordinator of IGTF. (Awl)
