IPB and Its Alumni Association Established 5th International Table Tennis Open Championship 2015

Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB – Bogor Agricultural University) and the Alumni Association (HA) of IPB held "5th International Table Tennis Open Championship  2015", on 4-7 November 2015, at the Gymnasium Sports Hall, Dramaga Campus, Bogor. The International championship was participated by 884 contingents from several countries, namely Indonesia, China, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Yonny Koesmaryono. In his opening remarks, he said, "The International Table Tennis Championships is part of the IPB instruments to promote sport. Sports is important not merely for a healthy but also to set up a character education, it must be supported. We sincerely hope that through this tournament it will produce national and international levels athletes for table tennis ".

Chairman of the Organizing Committee (OC), Dr. Irzaman, stated that the international tournament is not only participated by students, but also prospective athletes who comes from primary and secondary schools. "The winners will be awarded development funds for coaching, trofy, and souvenirs," he said.

This activity was fully supported by the Persatuan Tenis Meja Seluruh Indonesia (PTMSI – Table Tennis Association of Indonesia), the association motivated that such table tennis championships should be planned continuously by universities, as it will produce prospective the nation's best athletes.
