SKHB IPB University Organizes Debriefing on Ethics of Veterinary Legislation and Open Recruitment for PPDH Students

IPB University's School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) held a Veterinary Ethics Training, Veterinary Legislation and Open Recruitment by Satwagia and Modernvet for students of the Veterinary Profession Education (PPDH) 2021-2022 Period 2 Semester 3. This activity was held for three days in FKH Rooms A and B1, recently.
The Head of the PPDH Study Program (Kaprodi) Dr drh Sri Murtini in her remarks said that veterinary medicine is a profession or field of work that is very bound by ethics. This activity is important for PPDH students as prospective doctors because students will be equipped with professional ethics, norms, and legal aspects in the field of work they will be involved in.
“Graduates need to build good communication with clients, colleagues, or superiors. Veterinarians are bound by four obligations, namely obligations to the profession, clients, patients, and fellow colleagues. This obligation is very important to understand so that it can be applied in daily activities," explained Dr Sri.
The debriefing on veterinary ethics presented two speakers, namely Dr. drh Heru Setijanto, PAVet (K) with material on 'Veterinary Professional Ethics and Collaboration' and drh Kemaz Aditya Dewangga, SH MKn with material on 'Occupational Contracts as Veterinarians and Legal Issues in the Field of Veterinary Medicine' .
“Animals play an important role in human life. Animals are widely used as a source of food, pets, and experimental animals or laboratory animals. Animals are also used for biomedical development for human health, in the veterinary field for animal health and conservation," explained Dr Heru.
In fact, he continued, since hundreds of years ago, animals have been widely used for research and education. Animals have also been used for military and tracking purposes. For conservation purposes, many animals that have lost their habitat need to be accommodated in ex-situ areas outside their natural habitat.
Furthermore, Dr Heru conveyed five veterinary functions attached to the title of veterinarian, namely safety (health security), security (security that the animal is not a source of transmission or spread of disease), assurance (guarantee in the form of a health certificate or animal health certificate), animal welfare and veterinary medical services.
On that occasion, Drh Kemaz conveyed three stages in a work contract, namely the pre-contractual, contractual, and post-contractual stages. The pre-contractual stage is the stage of negotiations (negotiations) with clients or co-workers to reach an agreement.
The contractual stage is an embodiment of reaching an agreement to give birth to a legal relationship and signing a contract. Finally, the post-contractual stage is in the form of contract execution. "Thus, each party can fulfill its obligations and receive its rights," he concluded. (AP/Rz) (IAAS/Res)
