DPMA IPB University Holds Studium Generale for Agromaritime Sociopreneur Academy Participants

The Agromaritime Sociopreneur Academy (ASA) is a program implemented under the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative, which focuses on improving skills and community development. This program is designed by the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) at IPB University, with the aim of preparing young generations to excel, particularly in the fields of agriculture and entrepreneurship, through various training and expert mentoring.
On Monday (19/6), DPMA IPB University held a Studium Generale as the inaugural event for ASA participants. The event was attended by Prof Ernan Rustiadi (Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development), Dr Handian Purwawangsa (Director of PMA), and Budiono Subambang (Expert Staff in the field of Maritime Resources, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture). The event was attended by 266 students from various faculties and schools at IPB University and was conducted online via Zoom meeting.
Dr Handian reported on the progress of the ASA program, which will be implemented from June to November. In response to the program information, Prof Ernan expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of the ASA program. "This program is excellent in providing soft skills and competencies to students, preparing them to become future leaders," said Prof Ernan.
Budiono conveyed a similar sentiment. He stated, "This program aligns well with the government's agenda, as it promotes pentahelix collaboration, involving the media, universities, central and local governments, communities, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and philanthropy. Additionally, students can develop skills, mastering knowledge and become global talents for Indonesia's advancement in 2045."
On this occasion, DPMA IPB University also invited two inspirational speakers, Bayu Mukti Anggara, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fishlog, and Tri Mumpuni Wiyatno, Community Based Electricity Development in Sumba. Both speakers are alumni of IPB University who have made significant contributions to community development in their respective fields.
Bayu Mukti has been recognized in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia for his work in developing natural resources through fisheries in collaboration with fishermen and creating the Fishlog industrial model that can be applied to other industries.
Meanwhile, Mumpuni Wiyatno is known as the "Village Electric Light Woman" for successfully providing electricity to approximately 80 villages in Indonesia through Microhydro Power Plants. Mumpuni is also listed in The World's 500 Most Influential Muslims 2021 and currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
Both speakers expressed their hope that participants would utilize this program effectively to innovate and create for the benefit of society. "The best of humans is those who are most beneficial," emphasized Mumpuni. (IAAS/DSR)
