Educating Village Children Around Campus, UKM IPB Teaching Launches the IMBLINKS Program

The IPB Teaching Student Activity Unit (UKM) launched the IMBLINKS or IPB Teaching Campus Circle Guidance program. This step was taken as an effort to educate the village community around the campus, especially for elementary school (SD) children. Activities are held every Sunday, from mid-February to early April 2023.
"IPB Teaching is proud to present the IMBLINKS program. Balebak Village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, West Java Province is the place for this activity," said Tiara Putri, one of the IPB Teaching team.
She said, currently education is one of the most essential problems in Indonesia. The research results released by the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) placed Indonesia in 72nd place out of 77 countries.
"This happens because there is still a lack of equal distribution of education in Indonesia, resulting in an inequality in the ability of Indonesia's human resources, especially in rural areas. For this reason, IPB Teaching UKM was founded," she said.
Tiara said the teaching team, namely IPB Teaching UKM members, prepared interesting and innovative materials to be applied in the learning of elementary school children in Balebak Village. Materials cover formal lessons such as mathematics, Indonesian and natural sciences, as well as additional subjects such as arts, sports and social activities.
"The children involved in this program are students at the elementary level from grade 1 to grade 6. The learning materials provided each week are different with the aim that children don't feel bored," she said.
Apart from helping educate the children in Balebak Village, Tiara explained, IMBLINKS activities also provide benefits for teachers. "Through this activity, they gain valuable experience while improving their skills in teaching," she added.
Tiara hopes that this program can be one of the efforts to create smart and competent young people in building this nation. "Hopefully this activity will continue to be carried out in various other places so that it can provide benefits for children who need assistance in getting a better education," he concluded.
