Recently, the Statistics and Data Science Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) presented a guest lecturer, Assistant Deputy for Actuarial Valuation at the Social Security Administration (BPJS) Health, apt Antokalina SV, SSi, AAAK, MBA, CHIA, CFP.

"This activity is a series of courses in the Statistics and Data Science Study Program. Throughout the semester, students are challenged to explore information, gain insight and formulate recommendations based on the available data. One of the cases used is the BPJS Health sample data," said Dr Anik Djuraidah as the course coordinator.

As is known, since 2018 BPJS Kesehatan has provided public access to data on participants and services of the National Health Insurance (JKN). The data is sample data drawn from the service database at first-level and referral health facilities. Until 2022, the sample data shared reached more than two million participants. This is the largest health insurance service data available in the world.

Dr Anik added, not only general participant data, BPJS Kesehatan also shared two types of contextual sample data, namely patients with diabetes mellitus and tuberculosis. The dataset is rich in information related to health in Indonesia that is eagerly awaited by stakeholders, both at the national and regional levels.

"The experience of students dealing with real cases is important in building plenary competence. Statisticians and data scientists are not only able to understand concepts and theories, but also adept at solving problems and providing solutions based on the results of data analysis," she concluded.
