IPB University and Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture Commit to Make a Cooperation Agreement

IPB University and Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture agreed on a cooperation agreement between the two parties. This agreement was carried out online (2/3). 

The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria said the world was challenged by major disruptions such as climate change, COVID-19, and the geopolitical crisis. Capacity building in agriculture through education and religion is very important to overcome these. 

"IPB University is glad to collaborate with Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture for agricultural wealth. This partnership will make it possible to exchange knowledge, expertise, and visions that lead to the development of innovative solutions to address the challenges facing the agricultural sector," he said. 

He explained that IPB University has three important missions. The first is how to organize modern and quality education. Second, how to promote research and innovation. Third, how to strengthen community outreach.

"And in my opinion, the three missions of universities in Indonesia must be carried out and it is very appropriate for us to have collaboration between IPB University and Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture as professional diversity," explained the Rector of IPB University. 

He hopes that this collaboration can strengthen each other and bring a more beneficial impact on sustainable development. 

Meanwhile, the Rector of the Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture, 45 forestry continues to uphold a sustainable life. 
 
He explained that Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture was founded as an agricultural experiment station training division. Then it turned into a university that produced nearly 10,000 graduates in its time.

"Our focus is practicality and creativity with a curriculum designed not only to impart advanced horticultural skills but also to teach students the processing, distribution, sales, and business management skills necessary for sustainable agriculture and forestry," he said. 

Furthermore, Shigehiko Suzuki said that the aim of establishing the Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture was to produce leaders who were able to preserve and develop the environment and traditions of rural communities. 

"We want to develop human resources. You may know that Shizuoka produces various agricultural products that are produced such as melons, strawberries, and mandarin oranges. It is hoped that with this collaboration IPB University and Shizuoka Professional University of Agriculture will contribute to student exchanges between West Java and Shizuoka Prefecture," he said.
