The Department of Physics of IPB University Gives Robotics & IoT Coaching Clinic in Sinjai and Bulukumba

The Department of Physics of IPB University conducted a socialization and Coaching Clinic for Robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT) in Physics Goes To School (PGTS) activities in Sinjai and Bulukumba Regencies of South Sulawesi Province. Physics Goes To School (PGTS) is a work program of the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University which aims to increase students’ insights and literacy related to physics and its applications.

The current PGTS activity was held at Sinjai 3 Public High School on January 14, 2020 and Sinjai High School 5 on January 15, 2020 and at Bulukumba 11 Public High School on January 15, 2020. Present at this PGTS activity were the Chairperson of the Department of Physics of IPB University, Dr. Akhiruddin Maddu and an alumni as well as technicians from the Advanced Physics Laboratory Department of Physics of IPB University, Sejahtera Ahmad, SSi.

“Physics is one of the basic sciences that has become the main driver of the development of advanced technology and has a role in producing industrial revolutions from industry 1.0 to industry 4.0 which is characterized by massive use of the internet in various activities known as the Internet of Things (IoT),” said Akhiruddin Maddu.

To increase scientific and technological literacy for students, a Coaching Clinic on Robotics and IoT was held. In this coaching clinic several types of robots and IoT devices were introduced as a result of innovations and creations of students and alumni of the Department of Physics of IPB University under the auspices of the Physics Research Club (PRC). Robotics and IoT Coaching Clinic delivered by Sejatera Ahamad, SSi, alumni of Physics Research Club (PRC). In this coaching clinic, the components and working principles of robots and IoT are explained.

Students are very enthusiastic about receiving new knowledge about robotics technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), even high school students are very interested in learning and exploring this robotics and IoT technology. Not only that, the school is also interested and plans to develop extracurricular fields in robotics and IoT in each school. (IAAS/NAS)
