Facing the VUCA World Era, IPB University School of Business Lets Alumni with a New Business Mindset
School of Business (SB) IPB University held a National Seminar with the headline "Rebooting Business Mindset Towards VUCA World" in the context of the Alumni Release of SB IPB University in 2019. The national seminar was held on Saturday, 2/11 at the Pullman Central Park Hotel Jakarta.
At the seminar, Bank Indonesia Governor Dr. Perry Warjiyo was present as the Keynote Speaker. Also present were the Minister of Research and Technology / Head of the Indonesian National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN), Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro, Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, and Dean of SB IPB University Prof. Dr. Noer Azam Achsani.
Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro delivered important messages for the alumni of SB IPB University. "I told the Alumni of IPB University, especially the alumni of SB IPB University to continue to develop new business models in agriculture and fisheries. I feel that this is important because the agricultural sector is a trademark of IPB University. I know that IPB has now been re-branding to IPB University, after that IPB University and its alumni have a big task to compare the agricultural profession so that the mindset of farmers is not just farmers, but they are business people in the agricultural sector who play a role in advancing the economy and food security of the Indonesian nation ", said the Minister of Research and Technology / BRIN's new RI was inaugurated in October.
Perry Warjiyo conveyed the actual condition of the world economy. "Now in the era of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) World, I observe a challenging new phenomenon. This phenomenon I call Deminishing Globalization Rising Digitalization. I hope, SB IPB University alumni are able to answer these challenges, especially in the business sector in agriculture which is certainly an agricultural business in accordance with the 4.0 era. That way, the alumni can continue to serve and advance the Indonesian economy "said the Governor of Bank Indonesia.
In his address Prof. Arif Satria conveyed the strategy of IPB University in facing VUCA World. "In facing VUCA World which makes us fragile, we must react with VUCA which makes us Agile, VUCA is Vision, Understanding, Clarity, and Agility. Volatiliy requires us to think further ahead, be more adaptive, and be committed in a better future Uncertainty must be faced with collaboration, good approaches and flexibility Complexity requires us to have Complex Problem Solving skills, good communication, data analysis skills, and clarity in thinking, and ambiguity that must be addressed with high accountability skills, change advocacy, innovative characters, and technology centric skills, "said the IPB University lecturer from the Faculty of Human Ecology.
The seminar session continued with a discussion related to the Indonesian Business Sector facing Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity: International Business Conditions. This session was filled by LinkAja's CEO Danu Wicaksana, BRI's Digital Director Information Technology and Operations Indra Utoyo and Jouska’s Founder Aakar Abyasa Fidzuno.
In the graduation ceremony, SB IPB University released 26 Business Management Doctoral education alumni, 200 Master of Business Management alumni, and 43 Business Bachelor alumni. Now, SB IPB University has a total of 4,182 alumni. (NR)
