Great Tasks and Duties Await, 71 New IPB Officials Inaugurated

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), again inaugurated its university officials, on Friday, 16 March 2018, at Grha Widya Wisuda Building, IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor. There are 71 new officials who were inaugurated to assist IPB Rector, Dr. Arif Satria, in executing his jobs. Rector plans and directs the operations and functions of the units responsible for creating spaces that enhance the University’s research, teaching, administrative, and student activities in line with its vision-mission, as stated in the IPB Long-Term Plan (RJP-IPB) 2019-2045. The Long-term Plan confirms IPB to become Techno-Socio-Enterpreneurial University. In his remarks, Dr. Arif explained as the designated leader of an institution of higher learning, he is charged with many, many responsibilities. To perform his huge assignment, Rector must be assisted by a large group of officials, therefore huge numbers of roles and responsibilities await these newly ordained officials.
"In the future, IPB will be more demanded for the community empowerment and enrichment of Indonesian society / nation (Social Enrichment). The focus remains on the superior quality education for all, superior research and leading, and able to be a solution to the problems of the nation, "said Rector in his speech.
According to him, to set forth the condition of actual problems attending the recent trends in education, we will attempt to develop some thoughts on the future. The effort to bring the future into the present must be imbued with the spirit of strengthening the university marwah. This Marwah became a pillar of the strength of scientific and moral integrity, and the pillars of independence to always spread the good and continue to fight for truth and justice.
"Within the emerging knowledge-based society and innovative economy it is only the labor of new-type, that is of intellectual employees (which sometimes are also referred to as talented employees), that can ensure the survival of universities. Science was the model for liberal thinking; technocrats the model actors. Technocracy control over significant portions of life by detached, formally credentialed experts is a pattern and philosophy of governance with particular force in a knowledge society. Therefore, managing the campus is not enough just with technocratic intelligence, but also intellectual intelligence and high sensitivity of the heart," he said.
The Rector expects officials who were inaugurated to work together to carry out these steps as reflected in the 5 (five) milestones of IPB achievement: i.e. excellent innovation ecosystem, engaged and competent human capital, excellent innovation, enriched and empowered society, and local-global interconnectivity.
According to him, IPB has several agenda to complete in the next few years, namely the formulation of IPB strategic plan 2018-2023, accreditation and structuring of study program, stabilization of Business School and preparation of Vocational School, implementation of performance management system, development of equitable service system, education and research, and implementation of Green Transportation, strengthening cooperation network, strengthening entrepreneurship spirit, and developing international program.
In addition, Bogor Agricultural University is encouraged to synergize with 10 other on to finalize the status and the performance management system of Legal Entity State Universities (PTN BH). IPB is required to be the best institution with restrictions that not all can be adapted quickly.
"Our flexibility in dealing with an iteractive policy is needed that we will work to stop stuttering in responding to change. Adaptation to nomenclature of study program, staff allocation mechanism in each study program, accreditation relevance, personnel management and State Civil Apparatus (ASN), financial governance, World University Ranking, Innovation Implementation of IPB, strengthening and acceleration of integrated information system, integrated management system, entrepreneurship development, and strengthening the soul of socio-entrepreneurship should be our priority in the future," he explained.
At the end of his remarks, Dr. Arif expected that the newly inaugurated officials can be role models for their colleagues. Nowadays business is tied together by its systems of communication. This communication, businessmen are discovering, depends more on the spoken word than it does on the written word. People prefer to be invited to learn and work together rather than just listening and being taught. A good leader is a leader who can cultivate a hope for his colleagues and sub-ordinates. Where hope grows in the heart, it will awake to perform a real action in order to realize his hope.
"A leader is not an administrator who loves to run others, but someone who carries water for his people so that they can get on with their jobs. The last test of a leader; Leaders help people to see themselves better than they are is to pass on to the people he leads the conviction and the will to move on. Let’s save the very life of our beloved university, and keep searching and serving the best for the progress of beloved nation and country. (Wied)
