Off-Campus Programs of IPB: IPB Pro Farmers and Closer to the people

Rector of Bogor Agricultural University represented by Vice Rector  for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, assigned  Dr. Aceng Hidayat to open Program Studi  di Luar Domisili (PDD =  off-campus study program).  Off-campus study provides a valuable opportunity to hone and extend the intellectual skills and capacity for civic and academic engagement associated with a IPB  subject coverage  by placing students in educational settings that purposefully combine classroom and experiential learning, as stipulated by Higher Education Establishment Permit issued by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) RI.

 

Sukabumi is the first city to have IPB PDD. "We expect a lot in the establishment of  IPB PDD!" Expressed the Mayor of Sukabumi, H. Mohamad Muraz, SH, MM in the finalization IPB PDD feasibility study, on  29 March 2016,  in Sukabumi. PDD IPB will be one solution of 5 (five) the Indonesian agricultural problems, stated the  Minister of Agriculture of Indonesia, Mr. Suleiman Amran, It is the availability of agricultural extension, particularly for Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province.

 

In addition to provide equal  educational opportunity of quality higher educational program, PDD IPB is expected to increase the Angka Pendidikan Kasar (APK = Education Rough Figures) of  West Java province. The legal basis for the implementation of PDD IPB  is Law No. 20 of 2003 on National Education System, Education Minister Decree No. 20 of 2011, on the establishment of  off-campus study program. As well as  Provincial Regulations No. 25 of 2013 on the Rencana Pembangunan  Jangka Menengah Daerah Provinsi Jawa Barat (RPJMD = Intermediate Range of Development Plan of West Java Province).  

 

Dr. Aceng Hidayat said the PDD IPB in Sukabumi is to show the world that IPB manages to pick up the ball somehow, it is  not the ivory tower campus. This year PPD IPB Sukabumi will open three undergraduate study programs (S1) and vocational (D3) in Sukabumi. Infrastructure for PPD IPB is being prepared by the Government of West Java Province. Operationally the PDD IPB will be supported fully by Sukabumi municipality, West Java Provincial Government and Kemenristekdikti RI. (Wied).
