CCROM-SEAP of the Institute of Research and Community Service of Bogor Agricultural University, Municipal Government of Bogor and NIES Japan Hold International Symposium on Eco City Bogor
One of the missions of Bogor City to support sustainable development is to develop the concept of Bogor Eco-city, that is, a green, healthy, and environmentally friendly city, In the implementation, the concept needs to be supported by a database and monitoring system using local data based on the characteristics of Bogor city.
To face these challenges, the Center for Climate and Risk Opportunity Management of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (CCROM-SEAP) of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), in collaboration with the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) of Japan is developing a system of monitoring and innovative visualization. It is developed through a demonstration installation program of energy use system in the city of Bogor and a simulated scenario of future Bogor eco-city based on the parameter of information and greenhouse gas emissions specific of Bogor.
To present the progress of the cooperation, exchange ideas and share experiences in the implementation of Bogor Eco-city, CCROM-SEAP of IPB in cooperation with the City Government of Bogor, Centre for Research on Energy Policy (CREP) ITB, NIES, and Institute for Global Environmental Services (IGES) of Japan again held an International Symposium on Eco City Bogor in IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Bogor, (17/3). This international symposium was attended and opened by the Mayor of Bogor, Dr. Bima Arya Sugiarto; Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation of IPB, Prof. Dr. Anas Miftah Fauzi; and Director of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Monitoring of Reporting and Verification, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Dr. Kirsfianti Linda Ginoga as a Keynote Speaker; and also various stakeholders from various areas in Greater Jakarta and Bandung.
Bogor Mayor said that the Bogor city government is serious about realizing the Bogor city as an Eco City. "This symposium and cooperation program is one of the efforts of Bogor Municipality Government to make Bogor as an Eco-City, as well as support the Indonesian Government’s commitment to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG)," he said.
On the same occasion, IPB’s Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Anas Miftah Fauzi also said that IPB has an important task to help the Bogor city government with research and knowledge in an effort to reduce GHG emissions, especially in the city of Bogor. (Mtd).
