1400 Students of Bogor Agricultural University Participated in TPB Cup

About 1,400 (one thousand four hundred) students of the First Year Common Students (TPB) of Bogor Agricultural University who stay in the dorm were required to participate in the TPB Cup 2011. This special event was officially opened by Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr.Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc., who was accompanied by Director of TPB, Dr. Ibnul Qoyim, Head of Dormitory Management Agency TPB IPB, Dr. Ir. Irmansyah, M.Sc., and other IPB staff on Thursday, 14  April 2011,  at the Gymnasium, Campus Dramaga, Bogor.

Marathon which was participated by about 100 students was the first sport being competed, and was  officially opened by Rector. The runners   started in front of the Gymnasium, they  ran around the Darmaga campus, and finished at the back in the Gymnasium.

Five (5) sport branches  were competed in the TPB Cup 2011, namely  futsal, basketball, handball, marathon, and chess. Those sport competitions were held on the Darmaga campus,  on 14-17 April 2011. The winners were granted trophies and development funds.

"As we understand that the interest of students on sport is getting smaller and smaller, therefore, it is expected that the  TPB Cup 2011 will attract students to improve their  interest on sports, as sport and learning process should be  equivalence, "said Chairman of the Organizing Committee of  TPB Cup 2011, Mohammad Jayid Hijran Djayani.

According to him, this event was also utilzed as a forum for the selection of contingent of TPB for Olah Raga Mahasiswa Nasional Indonesia (The National Sports for the Indonesian Student) later on, especially on the futsal and basketball. (Wied).
