Comparative Study to Surabaya: Inspiration For Future Development of Bogor Agricultural University

The arrival of the group of Public Relations Division and the Secretariat of the Executive Secretary of Bogor Agricultural University  for  comparative study at the Institute of Technology Surabya (ITS) and University of Airlangga (Airlangga University), Surabaya, on Friday (12/11) were warmly welcomed by the host. The host, the Airlangga University, had provided bus transportation for the group and the first itinerary of the program  was visited  ITS. Here, the group had  two-way communication.

Head of the Public Relations and Protocollair of the ITS, Moch Agung Pamujo, S. Sos.,  explained that the public relations and protocol of the ITS was elected to be the Overall Winner of the Anugerah Media Humas 2010 organized by the Coordination Board of the Government Public Relations (Bakohumas). "We may be faster and cleverer in grabbing the  opportunities," said Agung modestly.

He further  explained,  in the category of merchandise,  in addition to the physical form, ITS also put the educational value on its presentation. Wherease in the category of Rector’s Report profile, ITS won as the Institute  was so wise that provided the summary of its thick report. "Summary  was the element that made ITS won the competition," he added.

More over, Agung told the group the tips for the close relationships  with reporters. Dining together with the Executive Boards of ITS, congratulated the media that celebrate its anniversary, and granted awards for the media in the Dies Natalis of the Institute.

While, for the the Division of Secretariat, Drs. Djoko Siswo Diantoro,  Head of General, HKTL & Supplies BAUK ITS, informed the group on the secretariat matters. Then, the group was guided to visit  the offices under the secretariat of ITS.

In the same day, the group continued their visit to Airlangga University. Here, the group was guided by the Head of the Secretariat of the Airlangga University, Dr. Ahmad Fuad, to visit the university archives. The university was selected to be the venue for the group to learn in archiving,  as the University has been granted ISO 9001, standard model for quality management systems.

The group leader of the Bogor Agricultural University, Dr. Bonny P.W. Soekarno, was happy to know that the group learned a lot from those two universities.  The information and knowledge they obtained will inspire the future development of  our university. Especially for the Airlangga University, it is expected that the University will share the ISO work characters to their friends at Bogor Agricultural University, said Dr. Bonny.  (Wied)
