Entrepreneur Market Day of DPKHA IPB

There is a new feature in the graduation ceremony currently held by IPB. Previously, it was colored with solemnity in attending the graduation rituals by involving parents. This time a new scene will be introduced, a market with creative products by IPB students, called "Entrepreneur Market Day."

The creative idea of the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) IPB deserves a thumb of appreciation. The Diploma graduation ceremony held on (26/10) will present the new feature.

What is the market day? It is a form of implementation of several concepts: business needs (problems based solution), business networks, collaboration, resource sharing and synergy (symbiosis mutualism).

Market day is a test case by DPKHA to test the entrepreneurial quality of students who are enrolled in DPKHA IPB.

The many visitors among others graduates’ companions such as parents are seen as big market in marketing, or even in promoting creative products made by the students. Not only that, the wide range of visitors from non-officials to self-employers enables possible relations with investors.

There are about 49 small-medium businesses that will be promoting their products, ranging from agriculture to non agriculture.

Agricultural small-medium businesses will exhibit the cultivation of ginger, papaya, vegetables, rosella, nurseries and so forth. Livestock businesses will show the production of eel, hamsters, mice, quail, chickens and sheep. Meanwhile services products will include travel, transportation, painted shoes, aquarium manufacture, clothing, outbound, batik, shirts and education.

Other products are fisheries and foods such as raising tilapia, catfish, chocolate, bread, noodles, sorabi, ice cream, fruit juice and yogurt.

Indeed the position of being a student has many benefits. For example, they could be as a market participant, participate as suppliers of various products that they produce by themselves or sellers of products by others. Meanwhile, as consumers, they can buy certain products as needed. Usually those who are as producers can identify and provide the needs of various customers, including their own needs. For example, to meet the need of their classmates for lunch, they can also open a food business.

According to the Head of Student Career Development Division, DPKHA IPB, Iin Solihin Ir, MSi., (14/10) on the Dramaga campus of IPB, Bogor, this event is a vehicle and training for the IPB students in entrepreneurship IPB.

"This is a means of students in entrepreneurship and a show window," he said.

He said that this activity is an entrepreneurship program currently run by DPKHA, in which the students who are interested and possess entrepreneurial talents will be assisted and facilitated. This is done to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of IPB students.

"We also want to prove to the community that IPB students have the capacity in the world of entrepreneurship, especially later when their graduation is witnessed by the parents," he said.

It is planned that if the test case conducted in September is successful, it will held again in December with activities that are more vibrant with more participants.

"This Expo will continue along with the graduation ceremony. Not only with the Diploma graduation but with the graduation of degree program as well, we will do this, "he said.

Please note that there are some students who have been successful in entrepreneurship such as Ance Trio Marta, who won the First Champion in the National in the Independent Young Entrepreneur Competition in the category of industry and services in 2009, Eagle Gumilang who is successful in housing business with populist prices, and Gigin with his Horta Dolls, which is increasingly penetrating into foreign markets, and so forth.
