Department of Fish Resources Utilization Organized Training Program on Softskill for Students
To provide softskills for its students, the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP) Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Bogor Agricultural University, on 3 October 2010, conducted training course on "Cracking the Learning Code: Motivation, What to Learn, and How to Learn". The event is a series of "One Day Fishing" planned by Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP) Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Bogor Agricultural University, and participated by students of the 2nd and 3rd year.
The training course was designed to the facts that students of the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP) have a variety capabilities, educational backgrounds and interests that produce constraints for them in attending the lectures. With various educational background as well as skills of those students, they find difficulties to learn the subject matters and to apply the effective learning method to undertake the educational programs. In addition, variety of interests caused the lose of motivation in to learning process, at the beginning of electing the said Department. Such conditions have effected for the lower of their Grade Point Average (GPA), and their less optimal achievement in reaching for various academic and non academic.
Training Course on Cracking The Learning Code is a set of principles of teaching, learning and personal development that was designed and developed by the Spiritual Emotional Mind Code. This training discusses the core principles of learning and how it can be utilized for personal development of students. Cracking The Learning Code is a "study of excellence", that provides various strategies to maximize the potential students, potential to learn and apply learning techniques commonly known as mind mapping.
In addition to shift the existing paradigm on freshman students’ motivation, namely new paradigm of learning motivation of Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP), the objectives of the training course were to explore the potentiality of students to increase their self-awareness and motivation for their achievements, and to maximize brain function with brainwave technology. Finally, the course was also intended to enhance students’ learning skills by applying learning mind mapping techniques.
The Resource Person for the Training Course was Ms. Donna Hariawan, ST (consultant and therapist SEM code). She is a NLP-Neuro Linguistic Programming and certified Hypnotherapy Practitioner. The facilitators were the teaching staff of Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP) who were under the management of Commission’s of Competence Development and Soft Skills of Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP) consisting of Ms. Iin Solihin, S. Pi, M. Si, Ms. Retno Muninggar S. Pi, ME and Mr. Thomas Nugroho S. Pi, M. Si. (Wied).
