IPB Talks: Grasping the Heatwave Phenomenon

The phenomenon known as a heatwave, or extreme heat, is characterized by a period of unusually high temperatures sustained over several days to weeks. In Indonesia, this phenomenon is increasingly linked to global climate change. Extreme heat not only disrupts everyday life but also has serious repercussions for public health, agriculture, and ecosystems. Sonni Setiawan, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer from the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology at FMIPA – IPB University, thoroughly examines the concept of a heatwave and whether Indonesia is indeed experiencing such extreme heat conditions.
