Students of Veterinary Medicine in Indonesia Meeting in IPB, to Socialize One Health
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bogor Agricultural University (FKH IPB) organized the 2017 National Veterinary Competition (Vetcom), at FKH IPB, Dramaga Campus, Bogor, on 12-14 May 2017. This special event is the annual work program of Student Executive Board (BEM) of FKH IPB. The theme of the 2017 event is "Membangun Sinergitas diantara Mahasiswa Kedokteran Hewan se-Indonesia dengan Poros Semangat One Health = Building Synergy among Students of Veterinary Medicine in Indonesia with One Health Spirits".
The objectives of this annual work program are: to foster the spirit of veterinary students to complete their studies and love their profession as veterinarians; to promote the veterinary professions among students of the Veterinary Medicine; to establish fraternity for the purpose of bringing together students of veterinary students throughout Indonesia; to improve the care and understanding of veterinary students to the present condition of society; to develop the writing skills of the veterinary students; to improve their skills in poster design, documentary and educational film, and quick thinking in the field of veterinary; and to socialize the concept of one health to veterinary students in particular and general audiences generally.
The Dean of FKH IPB, Prof. Dr. Drh. Srihadi Agungpriyono, in his remarks congratulated the finalists of Poster and Documentary Film Competition as they have passed the final stage of 2017 National Vetcom. Further he stated that students should develop their soft skills, responsibilities, leadership, discipline, honesty and patience to achieve their goals.
"They must be agile and have essential competency for future leaders, as they won’t be the sectoral scope leaders. This activity have opened the eyes of the community at large on the importance of One Health Concept, which had established the strong network among veterinary students all over Indonesia. We expect the event will improve our achievements and spirit to go forward, that enable us to produce innovations for the advancement of veterinary medicine in Indonesia, "he said.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the National Veterinary Competition 2017, Vincent Morgan Leonardo stated that the event was initiated by the Department of Human Resource Development (PSDM) of BEM of FKH IPB. The Program is focused to improve the interest and students academic achievement. "I believe that veterinary students will be the ones who can change Indonesia. Candidates for the DVM degree of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Indonesia will be the ones who will either move forward toward unity and widely shared prosperity by affirming their motto of the Indonesian veterinary medicine, “Manusya Mriga Satwa Sewaka," he said.
Competition composed of essay writing, documentary film making, poster, educational film making with antimicrobial resistance theme, and Veterinary Careful Quiz Competition (LCCV). There were 97 (ninety nine) finalists for the entire competition for 2017 Vetcom Competitions. They were from IPB, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Airlangga University (Unair), Hasanudin University (Unhas), Brawijaya University (UB), and Wijaya Kusuma University (UWKS).
