Headquarters of IAAS Indonesia Moved to IPB


International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Science (IAAS) is an international non-profit organization which aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences among members in the fields of agriculture and related sciences. End of last month IAAS Indonesia held the National Congress (NatCon) XXII in Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang. The theme of this congress was "Zero Waste Event: For Sustainable Future".

The annual activity of IAAS Indonesia was followed by 8 local committees (LC) existed in Indonesia. Being present in the meeting were the delegations from Bogor Agricultural University IPB), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad), Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Universitas Mataram, and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat. The delegation of IPB in this congress consisted of 19 members of IAAS.

Through various seminars and sessions, the results obtained in the form of knowledge about the importance of halal food from the agricultural sector, the socialization of the program of Village Concept Project of each LC, and the workshop on the activities of Zero Waste. The main activity of the congress was the discusssion of the election of the National Committee for the year ahead as well as other matters relating to the organization of IAAS Indonesia.

One of the discussion in the Congress was the displacement of the headquarters of IAAS Indonesia which for ten years was in UB, Malang. Previously, the headquarters of IAAS Indonesia was located in Bogor. Seeing the function and the history appeared the discourse to bring back the headquarters of IAAS Indonesia to Bogor. After some deliberations in the session, then it was decided that the headquarters of IAAS Indonesia would move to Bogor permanently. It was expected, with the transfer of the headquarters, it would increase the capacity of the function and the performance of IAAS Indonesia.

Another major agenda in the National Congress XXII of IAAS was the election of the National Committee (NC) and the formulation of the development policy strategy of IAAS. The result of the election of NC was that it was elected two representatives from IPB, two representatives from UB, one representative from UNS and one representative from Unpad as the Executive Committee National Committee 2017-2018. Ayida Martas Sulfa (Department of Land Resource Management of 50th Batch) as the National Director, and Afu Vianti Driantika (Department of Civil Engineering and Environment of 51st Batch) as the Vice Director of Partnership. Other than that, there was one representative from IPB as the Control Council National Committee namely Dicky Hasian (Department of Agronomy and Horticulture of 49th Batch). Meanwhile, the strategy of IAAS forward successfully formulated covered the development of the student exchange program (Expro) of Indonesia to IAAS member countries around the world, the development of the concept of guided village (Village Concept Project) at the existing LCs in Indonesia, and the development of partnership toward the institutions and the business sector engaged in the agriculture.***
