Foreign Students Compete in Presentations at IPB

News

Dozens of foreign students from various higher educations compete in scientific presentations at the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). They present the best results of research and each wants to be the best scientific presenter in the International Joint Seminar and Symposium, the 19th Tri University in Darmaga Campus of PB. For example, Zhenbin Wang, a student of Faculty of Food and Biological Engineering, Jiangsu University of China, presented the application of ultrasonic waves in the food industry. "Ultrasonic of low power is used to stop the microbiological growth and enzyme activity, while the high-power ultrasonic is used for the extraction, drying, emulsification and killing pathogenic bacteria, " said Zhenbin.

Also, Mitsuo Makino, a student of Mie University, Japan described the problem of agriculture in Japan. "The farmer population in Japan is declining sharply. One of the solutions we offer to this problem is an automatic public transport of agriculture. This reduces the human resources employed in agriculture and improve the job efficiently," said Mitsuo. To develop this system it is necessary to have an ‘eye’ that can see and decide which route is taken to lead to the farm. Mitsuo’s study shows the system can work well if it can detect which vehicle routes to take.

Meanwhile, not expecting to lose, Siravit Kitsiripat of Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, Thailand examined whether the use of electric cars is a virtue or a mistake.  According to Siravit, it is a mistake to use an electric car or one that uses electric energy. "The use of electric cars is a wrong choice because many processes must be done to make the cars electric and on one aspect many processes must be removed, so these would become a waste. We should take responsibility for these policies," said Siravit. (Mtd)
